The Role: A Community Builder for Our Interpreter Network

At Linguava, our interpreters are at the heart of everything we do. The Interpreter Engagement Specialist helps us build, strengthen, and activate that network so we can better serve our healthcare partners and, ultimately, the patients who rely on language access.

This role is equal parts relationship builder, community connector, recruiter, and program creator. You’ll be out in the community building relationships with interpreters, helping bring new interpreters into the Linguava network, creating meaningful ways for interpreters to engage with us, and developing programs that connect our interpreter network to the clients, communities, geographies, and languages where we have the greatest need.

Position Summary

The Interpreter Engagement Specialist is responsible for building strong, active relationships with Linguava’s interpreter community and helping grow and strengthen our interpreter network.

This role supports interpreter recruitment and outreach efforts, creates opportunities for interpreters to connect with Linguava, and develops engagement programs that help us activate our interpreter network where it is needed most.

You’ll serve as a visible representative of Linguava in the community, attending events, connecting with interpreter communities and organizations, and sharing the opportunities and mission of Linguava. You’ll also partner closely with Recruiting, Interpreter Relations, Compliance, Credentialing, and Operations to ensure we have the right interpreters, in the right places, speaking the right languages, to meet the needs of our healthcare clients and the patients they serve.

What You’ll Do

Build & Activate Our Interpreter Community

• Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with interpreters across Linguava’s network.
• Create meaningful opportunities for interpreters to connect with Linguava, one another, and our mission.
• Develop outreach and engagement strategies to activate interpreters who may be inactive, underutilized, or disconnected from the Linguava network.
• Gather feedback from interpreters and identify opportunities to improve their experience with Linguava.
• Help create a strong sense of community and belonging among our interpreter network.

Support Interpreter Recruitment & Network Growth

• Partner with the Recruiting team to support efforts to attract and bring new interpreters into the Linguava network.
• Identify opportunities to reach interpreters through community organizations, professional associations, educational programs, industry events, social networks, and other channels.
• Represent Linguava as a welcoming and mission-driven organization for interpreters considering joining our network.
• Help develop targeted recruitment campaigns based on priority languages, locations, client needs, and service gaps.
• Build relationships with interpreter communities and referral sources that can support ongoing network growth.

Be a Community Presence for Linguava

• Represent Linguava at interpreter events, community gatherings, conferences, career fairs, and other relevant activities.
• Build relationships with interpreter organizations, schools, professional associations, and community groups.
• Share Linguava’s mission, opportunities, services, and interpreter experience with prospective and current interpreters.
• Identify opportunities for Linguava to become more visible and connected within the interpreter community.
• Bring insights and feedback from the community back to Linguava to help inform our programs and priorities.

Connect Interpreters to Where They’re Needed Most

• Partner with Operations, Recruiting, Interpreter Relations, and leadership to understand interpreter demand and coverage gaps.
• Help develop programs and targeted engagement strategies that connect interpreters to our highest-priority clients, geographies, and languages.
• Identify opportunities to increase interpreter participation in areas where we have growing client demand or limited coverage.
• Help activate interpreters around specific opportunities, assignments, clients, locations, or languages.
• Use interpreter feedback, network data, and operational needs to inform targeted outreach and engagement efforts.

Support Learning & Professional Development

• Identify and coordinate opportunities for interpreters to access continuing education, professional development, and other learning resources.
• Support communications and logistics for CEU opportunities and interpreter education programs.
• Help communicate client-specific requirements and professional expectations to interpreters.
• Partner with Compliance and Credentialing to ensure engagement and education efforts align with interpreter requirements and Linguava standards.

Strengthen Interpreter Relationships

• Serve as a trusted resource and point of connection for interpreters across the Linguava network.
• Conduct proactive outreach to understand interpreter needs, challenges, and opportunities.
• Re-engage interpreters who have become inactive or less connected to Linguava.
• Identify trends and recurring feedback and bring actionable insights to the appropriate internal teams.
• Help create a consistent, positive experience for interpreters from recruitment through ongoing engagement.

Partner Across Linguava

• Collaborate closely with Recruiting, Interpreter Relations, Operations, Client Success, and leadership.
• Create feedback loops between interpreters and internal teams.
• Help ensure interpreter engagement efforts are aligned with business priorities and client needs.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects that improve interpreter experience, network growth, and service delivery.

Plan, Track & Improve Engagement Programs

• Develop and maintain an annual calendar of interpreter engagement, recruitment, community, and professional development activities.
• Coordinate events, vendors, communications, materials, and logistics.
• Track participation, outreach activity, interpreter engagement, and recruitment results.
• Gather and analyze feedback to understand what is working and where opportunities exist.
• Use data and insights to continually improve engagement and recruitment programs.
• Manage program-related budgets and resources as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in customer success, customer or vendor relations, interpreter relations, community engagement, credentialing, or a related field.
• Experience building relationships and conducting proactive outreach.
• Experience working in language services, healthcare, interpretation, translation, or a related field.
• Experience working as an interpreter or directly with interpreters.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect comfortably with a wide range of people.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
• Comfort representing an organization at community events and professional gatherings.
• Ability to travel throughout the Portland metro area and occasionally elsewhere as needed.
• Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and providing an excellent experience for interpreters and clients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing community engagement, outreach, or activation programs.
• Experience working with professional associations, educational institutions, or community organizations.
• Familiarity with healthcare interpreting standards, credentialing, or continuing education requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $28.00–$32.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

This position is also eligible for a 5% bonus.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• Hybrid position based in Portland, Oregon
• Regular community and interpreter outreach throughout the Portland metro area
• Travel throughout Oregon as needed
• Occasional evening or weekend events may be required
• Occasional out-of-state travel for conferences or industry events
