Position Summary
The Automation and Data Integration Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated workflows and system integrations that enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and operational effectiveness. This role involves working with APIs, databases, and automation tools to connect systems, retrieve and process data, and develop solutions that eliminate manual processes.The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Python, JavaScript, SQL, and API development, as well as experience with ETL processes, workflow automation tools, and data visualization tools.
Key Responsibilities

System Integration & API Development
-
Develop, maintain, and optimize API integrations to exchange data between internal and external systems.

Design and implement data integration solutions to ensure seamless communication between software platforms.
-
Work with APIs to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data into relevant systems.
-
Troubleshoot API-related issues and optimize integrations for performance, security, and reliability.
-
Workflow Automation & Process Optimization
-
Automate repetitive, manual processes to improve efficiency in finance, operations, and reporting workflows.
-
Develop scripts and automation tools using Python, JavaScript, or other relevant programming languages.
-
Develop workflow automations using tools such as Zapier or Make.
-
Monitor and improve automation workflows to minimize errors, downtime, and inefficiencies.
-
Data Extraction, Transformation & Reporting
-
Retrieve, process, and manipulate structured and unstructured data from APIs, databases, and files (CSV, JSON, XML).
-
Develop ETL pipelines to process and transform raw data for reporting, invoicing, and operational analytics.
-
Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
-
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across automated processes.

Reporting & Data Visualization
-
Create and maintain dashboards and reports for finance, operations, and leadership teams.
-
Use tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Google Looker Studio, or similar to visualize business data and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Automate report generation and ensure seamless data synchronization across platforms.

Debugging, Testing & Documentation
-
Debug and troubleshoot automation scripts, API connections, and ETL workflows.
-
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in integration and automation processes.

Maintain detailed documentation for all automation workflows, integrations, and data pipelines.

Ensure proper error handling, logging, and system monitoring for automated solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work closely with company leadership and department heads to identify automation opportunities.
-
Gather business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
-
Provide training and support to end-users on automation tools and workflows.
-
Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in automation, data integration, and API development.
Qualifications & Experience
-
5+ years of professional experience in application programming, automation development, database development, or a similar role.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or additional equivalent experience and certifications).

Proven abilities in automation development or software engineering with a focus on data processing and API integration.
-
Expert in working with APIs (RESTful, SOAP) to integrate and automate data flow between systems.
-
Expert level knowledge of multiple versions of SQL, Python 3, JSON, HTML, Javascript, cloud platforms, data presentation, and data query optimization.

Experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Airflow, Power Automate).
-
Experience with data warehousing and ETL tools.
-
Experience with Database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Cloud SQL) and query optimization techniques.

Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. PowerBI, Looker Studio, Tableau).

Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
-
Experience with data security and privacy best practices, including secure coding practices.

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Familiarity with Excel automation, including macros, VBA, or Python-based automation (e.g., OpenPyXL, Pandas).

Familiarity with Google Workspace Sheets automation, including Google Apps Script and API integrations.

Familiarity with Apple macOS and Windows operating systems.

Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and deployment processes.

Familiarity with machine learning or AI techniques.

Familiarity with HIPAA security and privacy practices.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
