Founded in 2010, and located in Portland, Oregon, Linguava Interpreters is a full-service language agency located in Portland, Oregon. We provide on-site interpretation, telephonic interpretation, video relay interpretation, and document translation to connect our clients with a language specialist that will best meet their needs.

We are currently seeking to fill the role of Accounting Manager.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for planning and directing the accounting activities of the department under limited supervision from the CFO.

What You Will Do – Responsibilities:

  • ● Responsible that the accounting department is living it’s WHY Statement
    and Organizational statement.
    ● Oversees the general accounting function, which includes intercompany
    accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance
    sheet management.
    ● Reviewing General Ledger accounts on monthly basis and preparing the
    required financial reports for the CFO.
    ● Managing and processing payroll. Reviewing payroll reports and ensure
    accuracy. This includes calculating and processing commissions.
    ● Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are
    in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are
    protected. Proposing new procedures as necessary to create more
    efficiency and seamless workflow.
    ● Involves significant interaction with Client Relations department for
    onboarding process and for billing questions and issues.
    ● Ensures that company financial records, under responsibility, are
    maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP.
    ● Will have direct management responsibility of the following: AP
    Accountant, AR Accountant, Senior Accountant, and Data Entry Clerks.
    ● Assist the CFO, Operations manager, and CFO with any/ all duties/ tasks
    they assign.
    ● Daily check-in with team members on workflow and make sound decisions,
    advising, coaching as needed.
    ● In charge of leading bi-weekly accounting department meetings with the
    objective to assess current challenges, updates and whether or not the
    department is meeting its goals. Will attend weekly manager meetings.
    ● Accounting weekly team meeting, and meeting with other departments as
    needed.
    ● Assuring smooth workflow within the team and tasks are done on time,
    problem solving when needed, discussing errors and issues with team,
    team elevation, and reassign tasks as needed.

    ● Interviewing accountants for the initial screening before candidates are
    interviewed by the CFO. When candidates are hired - assuring smooth
    transition between previous and new employee which requires some
    training and coaching.
    ● Mid-year and Year-end staff evaluations for the accounting team.
    ● Processing Direct Deposits to interpreters and vendors.
    ● Special accounting projects as required, and any other tasks as needed.

Skills/Abilities:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in accounting.
  • A minimum of 3 years of staff management experience in accounting.
  • Experience managing an accounting department in a mid-sized company (revenues greater than $20 Million).
  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
  • Great communication skills and being able to deal with challenging situations sometimes.
  • Not required but a plus CMA or CPA.
